SONA 2008: The Last GMA SONA?

by Danilo Almeyda
Thu, 24 Jul 2008 01:37:38 -0700

How many more SONA does GMA have? Would this be the last?

This could be the last indeed with such military preparations. Has the masses gone more furious and less resilient this time from what GMA did or have not done to solve the problems of Juan de la Cruz?

People’s power seemed not the mode to fluster the GMA regime but definitely there is something in store for her, could be more powerful than what EDSA had taught the Filipinos and the world as well about struggle for democracy.

It could be that the Filipino masses are merely giving her the motherly chance of making it work. But there is the last chance as they say.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo made a historic public admission of a crime on public trust with the ‘hello Garci’ case, but then she did not stop from there. It seemed GMA has grown immune from attacks that it no longer matters to her how she appeals publicly. Never in the history of Philippine politics was there a negative popularity recorded that of GMA’s. Probably even never in the history of world democracies has any leader been involved and faced charges of graft and corruption and survived longer than GMA have had.

One can only wonder what the masses, of all colors and political affiliation, has in store for this coming SONA 2008. Definitely the military and all of GMA’s security force are feeling as crazy as hell for this one.
